One very effective weight-loss strategy is to eat mindfully, meaning to pay attention to every signal your body gives, and also explore every emotion that comes up around food while eating. Don't eat out of boredom. Often people with weight-related issues realize that they are not hungry. Instead they are overwhelmed with emotion and are using food to pass their time or to elevate their mood. Ask yourself how you are feeling when you eat, and substitute another activity for eating (take a walk or do some cleaning)to explore your feelings if food is not necessary. Learn to listen to your body's clues to know when you are hungry, full or emotionally upset.
